In a drawer with different kitchen utensils, a gun will be placed. This is to allude the audience into thinking there is a possibility of it being used on someone, most probably the husband. This can evoke a sense of worry for what is to happen. A real gun will not be used. I have done research and found realistic toy guns at a store.
A padlock will be used at the end of the project. The ending will be ambiguous leaving the audience to have their own interpretation of what happened to the male character.
The rope will be used to tie the male character up after being sedated. It can be seen that the rope is physically keeping the husband in the marriage in contrast to the ring.
The ring could represent the failing marriage and false sense of loyalty. It could also be seen as the connection to why she is doing what she is doing as it binds her to the marriage.
A wheelbarrow is used to transfer the husband's body from the house into the shed. This goes to show that the woman may be physically weak. However, this does not stop her from doing what she is doing.
A common kitchen utensil becomes a potential weapon. Shows that danger can come from something familiar.
The phone is a symbol of betrayal, it is the way she found out about the husband's infidelity. It also shows a variation of isolation, even while sharing a home, the characters live separate lives; the husband is emotionally distant, absorbed in his phone.
The sedatives are put in the husband's food without his knowledge. The fact that she had bought the pills shows that she had planned this event, representing the wife's mental state and anger. Instead of actual pills we will use panadol.
Costumes:
The male character is to wear a dress shirt with either dress pants or jeans. This is to show that he is a businessman. Stereotypically business men use the excuse of working late or going on business trips. This adds to the idea that the husband stays out for long periods of time and he could be using it as an excuse to meet up with another woman.
The striped pattern of the shirt, though being innocent colours, can represent her hiding her true self or even a split personality. The colours, blue and white, help mask her true intentions as they symbolise purity, innocence and trustworthy/reliable.
Having basic french tip nails emphasises her ability to fit in and remain inconspicuous. This small detail can also make the audience question how someone with class is able to do such a thing.
