Props and Costumes:
Props:
In “Dead End,” our main prop is a car. We will be using a 2013 Honda Fit as the car our protagonist owns. Generally in films, a car can symbolise freedom and an escape. However, in our film, the car does not have a particular meaning.
We have also decided that our antagonist will be masked, giving a sense of concealment. This is a thriller convention as it causes a sense of unease and danger for both the audience and the main character.
An invitation will be placed on the passenger seat of the car our main character “Margot” is driving. This will set the scene and give reason to the audience as to why she is driving in the first place.
Another main prop will be the main character's phone with directions to the event. The directions will have a voice that tells her when to turn. This will then be the reason as to why she becomes stuck in a loop in this area. It will start to glitch and then eventually turn off. The talent has agreed to use their own phone.
Costumes:
The protagonist, Margot Brown, will be wearing light colours such as white, beige or cream to make her stick out when compared with the antagonist as well as create her to seem innocent and vulnerable. We are going for a semi-formal look with her outfit due to going to a work function.
Our antagonist will be wearing dark clothing such as a black hoodie, pants and shoes, as well as a mask to hide their identity. This will create a sense of danger and emphasise the threat he plays towards our protagonist.
The ‘uncanny’ man will be dressed in quite a formal manner. He is cast to seem like your average business man. However, due to the situation, something is just not right. He will be wearing dress pants, a button up shirt and a tie with formal shoes.
