What is the purpose of Opening Sequences? The film's opening sequence is a way for directors to set the scene for what's to come. I t establishes the plot as well as the mood / tone, introduces important characters, key themes, and setting. A well created opening sequence attracts the attention of the audience and lays the foundation for the story to follow.
